Return To Self-Activating Bliss, April 17, 2010

David: Namaste. Nature is organized and run by a single activating power. Not just a circuitry of power and channels through which power conducts and transmits, but a central agency of power that is self-implicit. In other words, the Energy does not come from anywhere else. Nor can we really understand what nature is or what we mean by the term nature, as though it’s some kind of object. Nature defies comprehension, and so does the Energy in which all of this is occurring.

Because of the discrete nature of perception, human beings tend to get lost and separated from that central core of self-activating Energy. They get drawn into very specific ways of seeing and relating, which become habitual, so habitual that they become exclusive of everything but that particular mode of perception. And so human beings naturally get drawn into a very tiny area of perception, so tiny that it has no idea about the actual context of living, completely alienated from that central matrix of power, self-activating power that is this whole electrical phenomenon of perception and self-arising Energy.

We are here to return to that self-activating Bliss, which is not any different than reality itself. When we talk of Energy, and I want to repeat this because it’s very important to understand, we’re not talking about energy that fits into a box that’s bigger than itself. We’re not talking about an energy that is segmented away from actual life, nor a reality that is separate from life or Energy. We’re talking about some kind of holistic display of fierce Consciousness, Energy, silence, that all come together into this phenomenon we call life.

Who cares ultimately whether birds are real or the water is real? Those are subjects and questions for philosophers. That’s a mind game, whether things are real or not real. Those are judgments, and they are justified by engaging in a very peculiar kind of intellectual activity. We’re interested in just feeling and knowing the immediacy of living, of pure living. And in that way, by simply interfacing with it, come to a direct knowledge about its nature.

The only way you can understand that process is if that self-activating Bliss, that is nature, that is you, comes up as supreme wakefulness, supreme understanding. In other words, you need to be reconnected back to that, not mechanically, not through the force of an authority, but through the compassionate movement of that Energy itself, an Energy that is really beyond all of us. This is where the initiation into the Kundalini-shakti or the Prana-shakti, as I sometimes like to call it, comes into play.

What I share with you is the current of nectar and Bliss that is in that nexus of Energy that is running and displaying everything. That is doing your nervous system, doing the ocean, doing the animal world, insect world, planetary, astronomical worlds, galaxies, and further out, if you can imagine anything beyond all of it. You are sitting right in that tidal wave. You are not separate from it. We don’t talk about Energy in this teaching as though it’s any different than Non-duality. Energy is just another idea, a representation of Non-duality, a concept for it. Life is more than Energy. It’s not summed up by the word or concept Energy, but you require great Energy to see all of this. There’s no other word that fits better than Energy in that context.

If you are tired and your mind is lazy, and your body is exhausted, and your mind is dull, there’s no way you’re going to see the ultimate Energy of the universe. You’re not going to be able to recognize what that term means. So, there must be a profound shift in the whole core of Being so that you begin to re-evaluate who you are. You begin to re-feel that, re-understand it, in terms of this heightened awareness.

So, this whole idea of teaching through a teaching is just not adequate, because a teaching always distinguishes between the enlightened and the ignorant, and tries to get the enlightened to give something to the ignorant. I don’t buy into that. I believe it’s simply a process of mutuality, in which we all begin to taste and release ourselves into the primal, universal Consciousness. We just do it together. There’s no teaching to do that. It’s just a happening. It’s a beautiful happening that is unprovoked by any superficial aspect of the human will, unprovoked by any kind of deliberate action on one’s part. It has to do with a fusion of understanding, depth perception, and cosmic radiation, receiving and being the cosmic radiation.
