When we are talking about enlightenment we are talking about a fundamental shift within attention. It’s a form of non-attention within attention that is causing all the problems with regards to whether you know consciousness or not. The easiest way to snap out of that problem is to first of all feel the wave of consciousness strike you. Enjoy the wave of Bliss that happens in and around the Self, the Absolute Being. In that first wave the possibility for flooding enters, that is being flooded or overcome with that same Bliss.
When that saturation of deep flooding occurs there’s then a development within attention that restructures the point of view of the perceiver, whereby the perceiver is not resting any longer in a state of duality. The foundation of perception becomes restructured. That’s what awakening is. That’s what happens in awakening so that you come to see from a different place, not see a different thing but see from a different place. So, just the mere abiding in Bliss will itself structure that permanent and ongoing realization of the Self.
You’ll be shocked to see what it is. It can be quite dramatic to in the initial stages live in that newfound perspective, which is not a perspective it’s the truth. That’s what makes it so shocking is that it’s not the development out of some other sequence of understanding. It is a penetration right into the root of understanding itself. It’s very powerful, and because it’s so powerful you can’t really miss it. It’s not an event that can possibly be missed.
Meditation is a great mystery. It's a profound and unfathomable topic. The subject of meditation is the nature of the Self. The object of meditation is also the nature of the Self – and -- it is also that which unites the subject and the object. [...]
Participant: Dear David, I was wondering whether a spiritual flourishing of an ordinary human being in a given lifetime is limited by the capacity this particular human being can take, so to speak. David: First, there is no ordinary human being [...]
How is everyone tonight? The human being is in a unique form of embodiment that allows it to know that it is God. It is the God of the universe, not to speak of the universe and God as two different things. In addition to knowing itself as the [...]
Moderator: A comment from a participant in England: I am finding greed/entitlement to be an issue. Could you speak on this and how best to resolve it? David: Not if you don’t tell me what the situation is. You can’t just feed me a topic like [...]
That’s a very good question, whether the sense of purpose comes about through separation, through duality. When you look out into nature and you study other life forms you don’t see them asking about purpose. Their lives are inherently [...]
The path of awakening can be summarized in two basic movements: ascending or expanding consciousness, and then subsequently, or perhaps simultaneously, descension and radiation of consciousness. The ascending part of awakening is concerned with [...]
Moderator: A question from a participant in England: Why do these realizations or insights sometimes not lead to an embodied, lived reality of this truth? David: Because Consciousness first has to be realized abstractly, Consciousness’s [...]
Moderator: A very long comment from Santa Monica, California, “Lately what’s happening, after reading the Ashtavakra and Avadhuta Gitas literally hundreds of times over the years but not for awhile, I recently reread them. From first, I got not [...]
Self Realization is an empty state. It contains nothing within It. That state, actually, comes about as the mind dissolves into the Absolute. When that dissolution is final, then Self Realization is permanent. The mind, however, does continue to [...]
Enlightenment is not a subjective experience. It's not a particular subjective experience and it is not an experience that is ongoing in your subjectivity. Enlightenment is the waking up of Consciousness Itself, the disintegration of the [...]
