Sahaja Samadhi Unhindered Radiant Consciousness, April 21, 2010

David: Samadhi is reality itself. It’s not merely a personal state of Consciousness. It cannot be reduced to a trance state or some kind of fixed absorption in Consciousness. Certainly, that describes one aspect of samadhi having to do with conditional realization, conditional realization of the Absolute. But, there are other more developed levels of samadhi, which are coexistent with human functioning.

The highest level of samadhi is sahaja samadhi, not nirvikalpa samadhi. Those are two distinct states. They should not be confused. Nirvikalpa samadhi is the realization of the atman, the realization that the I is the supreme Self, the supreme Consciousness. Sahaja samadhi is one that transcends the fixation of the mind to its source, and reveals a more natural and naturalized immersion in Consciousness, one that is not specifically focused on the inward direction.

Samadhi in sahaja samadhi then becomes the natural flow of functioning, the natural unhindered expression of radiant Consciousness in all levels of human existence, not just in the inner domain of the subjective, although it’s found there also.
